Welcome to the Xuanfa Institute!

The Xuanfa Institute is located on almost nine acres of land east of Fresno in central California near the Sierra foothills between Yosemite and Kings Canyon-Sequoia National Parks. The Xuanfa Institute is a nonprofit international organization founded by Venerable Zhaxi Zhuoma Rinpoche to propagate the correct Buddha-dharma that can liberate living beings from the sufferings of this world and enable those who practice this Buddha-dharma and cultivate themselves in accord with the dharma to realize the good fortune and wisdom needed to become a Buddha. “Xuanfa” means to propagate the dharma.

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III came to this world to correct the errors and omissions that have resulted from incorrect translations and transmissions that have happened since the time of Shakyamuni Buddha and to transmit dharma that is appropriate for our age and time. Shakyamuni Buddha learned the correct dharma from Dorje Chang Buddha, but did not teach all that He had learned when He first taught the Buddha-dharma over 2,500 years ago. Ven. Zhaxi Zhuoma is a close disciple of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.

Holy dharma protectors publicly made their presence known at the Xuanfa Institute after plans were announced to build a stupa to commemerate the coming to this world of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. All the Buddhist sects have recognized and confirmed that His Holiness is the highest Buddhist leader in the world. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III continues to receive the most recognitions of all buddhist leaders. Recently, the Buddha received the top honor World Peace Prize, a prize normally awarded to Presidents and Prime Ministers. The holy dharma protectors appeared after H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s disciple, Ven. Zhaxi Zhuoma Rinpoche, taught dharma that she had learned from the Buddha at the Xuanfa Institute.

This is a very sacred spot. In fact, it is the fourth Vajra Throne or bodhimanda in the world today and the only one in the West. It can be visited by Buddhists and non-Buddhist alike and serves as a portal for them to access various deities and receive their blessings. His Holiness the Buddha has said: “I uphold the principle that all Buddhist sects are equal. Anyone who wants to practice The Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation, may do so. It does not belong to any one of the Buddhist sects. If one wants to practice esoteric Buddhism, one can come to the Xuanfa Institute where there is one of holy virtue who became accomplished through the Niwan Dharma and who can perform initiations for you.” Ven. Zhaxi Zhuoma Rinpoche said: “Those who will come here to practice and do retreats will become accomplished just as they did at Kathok Monastery in Tibet, the bodhimanda for Guru Padmasambhava..” The rinpoche is a practitioner who speaks the truth and does not lie, “There were over 100,000 who received the rainbow body at Kathok Monastery in the past; however, over several decades, the Buddha-dharma has failed to be handed down at the Kathok Monastery. There are no more practitioners there who can transmit this dharma or who can transform into the rainbow body.”

People who came here recognized that it was a special power spot, a holy place where many holy beings gather, and felt a strong sense of joy and were energized just by being here, even before the true nature of the site was recognized. Some even recognized the presence of great energetic beings and some have been able to see them. It is a holy mandala, a place where ordinary beings can come and become enlightened. It is inhabited by holy beings. A video is available of some of the supernatural events that have occurred that demonstrates this.

In future when open to the public, anyone can drop in to listen to recorded discourses, watch videos, meditate, use the library, or visit some of the various Tibetan-style temples and shrines. Morning chanting and meditation will start at 5:00 or 6:00 am Monday through Friday depending on the season. It will be conducted by Ven. Zhaxi Zhuoma Rinpoche who has truly suceeded in transforming her body into that of a holy being. Classes will be held after morning service the first and third Sundays starting at 9:00 am. Meditation classes will be scheduled throughout the year.
